20th: Made it! OPOUTERE
8. Jan. 04At last! After 2 months of kaput-engine 'cruising' I have finally reached New Zealand. I know I should be sending you a postcard of a sheep or a kiwi but I thought I'd send you one of a giraffe instead just to keep you on your toes. When I arrived in Auckland on Christmas Eve I very nearly got on the first plane home as I was greeted by some terrible news via Mel (my sister-in-law). Her sister's 19 year old son Johnnie was killed in a car crash 6 days before Christmas. New Zealand is bright and beautiful but everything suddenly seems much darkened by his sudden death. |
