Decemer
15th: New postcard Mid-Dec.
03 (I think) NoumeaAm still here when I thought I'd be there. Once through Panama it took several long ocean-going weeks of chasing horizons to reach Tahiti. After one and a half months of sea my feet touched down on to a world that wasn't moving - never minding that the bodily one was fit to capsize. I shouldered my bike down the quivering gangplank, took 2 uncertain steps and then spun away on my wheels around the island. Spun round the island of Moorea too - lots of swaying palm trees, turquoise reefs, suffocating jungle heat, tumultuous rain, good-for-nothing blurs of mangy bike-chasing dogs and roads more busy with cows and crabs than cars. Now in Noumea off-loading French ammo. Should make New Z. either this year or next. At this rate it will be a Russian Christmas on board. Ohhh Hallelujah!! |
