CUMBRIA AUG 2002 Still making spectacularly slow progress. Several light years after embarking on coastal odyssey have made it to the Lake District where, atop Hardknott Pass, was blown off a gate in a gale. Narrowly avoided crushing ill-positioned sheep but succeeded in twanging achilles tendon on port-side ankle. Had to forge onward over further sizeable mounts and hillocks as a rendez-vous awaited with my builder in tourist mecca Windermere. Our planned 2 weeks of rough-stuff riding turned into a fortnight of piggy-backed travel. Can now limp so things are looking up. |
